February 28th, 2010 Welcome

In January, 2010, with the support of a generous grant from the John Templeton Foundation, Florida State University launched a four-year project on free will — Big Questions in Free Will — directed by Alfred R. Mele, William H. and Lucyle T. Werkmeister Professor of Philosophy at Florida State University.

The primary purpose of the project is to improve our understanding of free will in three spheres: science (especially neuroscience and social psychology); philosophy; and theology.

March 8th, 2010 Other Grant Opportunities

Those interested in the BQFW project are encouraged to look also at the opportunity for grant funding currently available on the John Templeton Foundation website. The Foundation is offering funds for research on projects investigating (a) the evolution of free will or (b) factors that serve to enhance or diminish our abilities to exercise free will. Initial inquiries are due by April 15, 2010. Additional information can be found here.
